The city of BaltimoreThe city of Baltimore, occupies one end of the HO layout. Largely untouched for the last 40 years, our city is flat, and that is one thing that the real city of Baltimore is NOT. Ed Krowart has suggested plans for rebuilding the city. He has some large paper to trace out the city blocks and plan the revitalization of Baltimore. Ed wants to add some hills to the city. We may also take the opportunity to add some tracks for a stagging yard and improve clearances to the tracks under Baltimore. The current plans call for the trolley loop in the city to be completely redone as well. A new city plan will be designed around usable access hatches, and accessible scenery. Lightweight panelized construction has been suggested to allow large sections to be finished in the comfort of members basements. Kevin Hunter has suggested a more extensive trolley arrangement, and has offered to do major elements of the construction. Reconstruction will allow several new animated scenes to be added, limited only by time and imagination. Nick Costanzi has suggested that we pick a time in which the city exists. Other members suggested that we might be able to expand on this idea by having changing elements in the city to represent several eras. Opening the superstructure in the city area will create an ideal opportunity to re-lay the ancient mainline tunnels. We are beginning a new era of growth in the HO division. We invite interested parties to join our cause! See our membership page for details on how to join and help in our newest crusade. Keep an eye on this page to see the latest developments.
