We hold open house shows to promote the hobby of model railroading, we have held our open
houses for over 75 years! If you are interested in making model railroading your hobby,
we also welcome new members! It is a great family hobby.
We are open the Second Sunday of each month, except May. And are open
additional days during the Winter Holiday season.
Weather and Holidays permitting, plan to drop by to see trains run, find
out more about the hobby, and our club.
Weather
permitting we will be open on the following dates for the 2011-2012 Holiday
season:
- Sunday, January 1, 2012
- Sunday, January 8, 2012
- Sunday, January 15, 2012
- Sunday, January 22, 2012
- Sunday, January 29, 2012
- Sunday, February 12, 2012
The club will be open from 1:00 to 5:00 pm each day.
You will see operating trains and trolleys modeling railroad
transportation systems in realistic settings with scale buildings, vehicles,
and people. The club operates both HO and O scale layouts, the two most
popular model railroad scales. Each layout is 65' x 12', included in the
2500 sq. ft. display space are a real steam locomotive bell, headlight and
whistle; 34 heralds (logos) from railroads that criss-crossed this country
in the mid 50s; and manufacturer and railroad publicity photos.
If you have a group who would like to visit the club, please e-mail
your request to: bsme1932@yahoo.com.
Admission is by donation. We suggest donations of $5 per person, $3
for ages 3-13, and $10 for a family. (That is a lot less than the cost
of movie tickets!)
For a preview of some of what you'll see look
at our layouts.
Buy a 75th Anniversary commemorative train whistle or other unique
railroad item from our gift kiosk.
We are located at 225 W. Saratoga St in downtown Baltimore, between
Howard St and Park Ave. Howard Street is the extension of I-395 into downtown.
I-395 is the main downtown exit from I-95. If you are driving south it
will be just after going through the Fort McHenry Tunnel (toll tunnel).
Saratoga Street is one block south of Mulberry Street, which is route 40
eastbound. Parking is available on the street and is free on Sundays. We
are one block north of the Lexington Light Rail Station, and two blocks
east of the Lexington Market Metro station.
